Upgrading from 3.6.1 to 3.8
Hi I have an old 3.6.1 one time license. I would now like to buy a 3.8 license. Is there things I should watch out for? I had already customized the stylesheet and templates quite a bit, would it be a pain to keep the looks?
Also, I was using PHP4 when I started. How to I switch to PHP5 with the threads I already have? Thanks W |
Switching to PHP 5 is done on your server, please contact your host on instructions on how to upgrade your hosting.
Upgrading from 3.6 includes some major changes, so you should expect quite a few template changes. I am not sure how much the CSS has changed, but I would recommend you duplicating your live site (in terms of styles, settings, and plugins) and do a test upgrade. This will give you advanced knowledge of the problems and you'll be able to fix them before doing an actual upgrade. |
vBulletin (3.x) does not care what version of PHP it is running on, as long as the version of PHP is higher than 4.3.3. You can change between them freely, and vBulletin will still run. However, it is recommended that you run PHP 5.2.5 or later.
