Need to reinstall full forum - what about old DB?
 

Hi,
I have serval small bugs to my forum and that makes some mods not working properly or at all.
So have descided to install it all over again from scrats.

But my forum has around 85.000 topics and 4500 members. And i need this to be into my DB backup and nothing else so i can rid of the errors and get a bugfree forum.

Im not into DB ect. So i would like to know what excatly to do, how and in witch order?

If i had some money i would just hire a VB fellow - but i dont and need to do this by my self.

So hope i can get some good hints and best a "A-Z" on whole progress

1. Create a complete DB backup (yes, complete). (This is an issue of "just in case".)
2. Create a new database, and install vBulletin on it.
3. Run ImpEx, and import the old database.
4. Finalise the import.

but if i import full DB again.. would this not just make it bad again?

And the backup.. its fine with the backup VB makes?

ImpEx does not import modifications, or styles, for that matter.

What are the bugs and errors you have now. Are you sure they can not be solved without reinstalling?

well I wish you report those small bugs and report it here so that we can try to figure it out, its simple rather than installing the whole forums once again. by installing as such you may find several other bugs popping up....

My errors are serval mods not working as it should even after reinstalling them "tons" of thimes and have checked they would work to the version i run.
Fx the Vbookie mod.. cant get it to work proper after a long time i did some updates from a much erly version of VB

The "bugs" i get.. is simple after installing some mods its just not working.. so i think there must be something wrong with it

after installing some mods you need to do some template edits to make it work and also check in

admincp

go to

vbulletin option----> plugin/Hook system and make sure it is set to yes

otherwise I dont find any reason why the mods should not work for you! it works for thousands of people! and it should not show some partiality with you.. lol..
