get rid of onclick?

I have some kind of mod installed that causes the onclick tracking to be implemented when someone clicks an outgoing link. This causes the forum to create a new url for visitors clicking on an affiliate link, and the new link does not get logged by the affiliate company.

The code looks like a onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview then the url

Does anyone know which add-on or plugin enables this and how I can disable it?

Thanks

What your doing is adding google analytics outbound link tracking to these url, I presume your using google analytics???

Your going to have to look into that side of things a bit more closely, try disabiling G A, and see if that makes any difference

Thanks.....Yes, I am using google analytics, but I don't even know what the outbound link tracking is...is that something I can shut off either in my analytics account or in my vb backend?

try disabiling your Google analytics and see if that makes a difference, Sometimes Google analytics can be for hassle than its worth if not set up correctly ;)

I use clickheat for outgoing link tracking and more.

Short of disabling analytics, are there any other options? I need to keep analytics up for a few more days so I can email it to my new advertisers.

I tried to link to a static domain and use url forwarding, but it seemed to follow and still didn't work.

I have a funny feeling its that, that is causing the problem, if you can bear with it for a few days more then do so, but you really need to get the issue looked at, Mind you i know of loads of sites that use GA but don't have an issue with it

Have GA not got a support forum or blog?? perhaps the quickest fix might come direct from the horse mouth.

FRDS mentioned he uses clickheat for outgoing link tracking, perhaps that might be one avenue to explore.

Take care ;)

Try removing the Analytics code for a few minutes. Test out a link. If the tracking disappears, you know the culprit. I would look at the Analytics Control Panel to see if you can disable the specific tracking feature.

Hi Melmunch :),

Your problem is related with VBSEO External Link Tracking feature
Quote:

Add Google Analytics "Tracking External Link Clicks" Code?
Select "Yes" to add the Google Analytics External Link Tracking code to all your external links. This feature enables you to track clicks on outbound links via your Google Analytics account.
Disabling that feature, will bring links back to its normal state.

Check the outbound links on your site?

Best regards,
Val.
