I have been approached by a multi millionaire company for me to intregate my forums into there website and work for them on a part-time basis running the forums such as i do now.

My forums started as a hobby but i had plans to turn it into a business in the next few years with income coming from advertising.

The forums are for a certain type of workers and has took off well i have 300 members and the guest visits are very good which in turn means the traffic stats are good.

What the company wants from me is the traffic so they can sell advertising based on the stats ( so i was led to believe at a informal meeting with them )

I an UK based and so are they what figures should i be talking at the next meeting.

with 300 members, your cpc is gonna be very very low.

Based on say 20% participation level, which is about normal. Thats 60 members who are gonna be seeing the adverts.

Isnt gonna pay for an investor to invest in such a small site, no matter how niche it is.

Try building your membership, get some analytics going, and take it from there.

Example: if you had adsense on there. I would guess monthly revenue would be about $5 to $50 max for such a small community.

Based on the 1 year turn over rule, max an investor would normally pay to BUY your site is around $600 bucks.

However is they wanna shove advertising on your site, then even based on a 0.30 cents cpc , your gonna be earning diddly squat.

My advice, sell them banner advertising on a 1 mth 3mth 6mth or annual basis, on rotation. At a set fee.

$40k is ludicrous amount to ask for such a small site

to add: for a 42,000 member site, $40k sounds reasonable, if the site isnt a commercial enterprise. But its based on stickability.

So you need to ascertain membership levels and participation daily, page views, and click thrus.
Also time spent on the site. Forums, inherantly earn very little money and command very low resale prices. Unless they are very niche or very big

if someone offered me 40k for a site with 300 members, I wouldn't think twice

even 4k is good...

I'd bite his hand off, and/or implement a more tactful strategy.
