IE Faster - Hate it more!

Ok, so I've been a 100% Firefox fanatic.... I'd take Firefox rendering over IE any day. But now it's become more and more of a reality that Firefox will never be as fast as IE. I've read over 20 articles and did quite a few tweaks for performance and still nothing. IE simply loads pages before my eyes, but firefox renders them the way i like. Now it's just making me wanna hate IE even more!

Anyone else sharing my frustration?

Lynne 01-10-2009 04:55 PM

I can't share your frustration, Gio, cuz I don't have IE on my Mac. :D

Showoff. I'm about to switch to Apple soon.

I only use IE when I need to check something as a guest, while I'm still logged into the admincp
but I did allow firefox to update last night and I lost my adsense notification plugin and my bookmarks!!
If I was ever to use IE, it would of been last night..lol

Really? Use the Web Development plugin Brandon, trust me it has loads of useful features. Including easily (temporarily) disabling cookies in order to view your website as a guest ;)

I always view the website as a guest or plain registered user by opening up another browser (Safari). If you clear your cookies in the same browser, then you kick yourself out of the admin cp and can't make changes right away if needed, no?

Thats what I do too. Just seems easier. :)

actually i use it on my PC side of things on my MAC... trying to test my designs, which i can't on my Mac side of things because the Mac browsers are compliant with everything.. lol

Nono. That's what i thought too. Turns out this feature like i said is temporary. Think about it as simply "disabling" a product? You can turn it right back on and you're good to go. Your cookies will still be intact. Here's a screen shot.

Other than that.

Bye bye Mozilla Firefox, Hello Google Chrome

Just installed Google Chrome now. Pages are loading right before my eyes. Reduction in clutter allows for a clean browser (placing more focus on content), and still with enough features. Hopefully it has some cool add-ons?

Well, even if IE will load pages faster, i still won't use it for navigating.
I'm a "Firefox all the way" guy and simply love surfing with it.

However, i'm using the "IE tabs" plug-in to view pages as a guest or simply to see how it looks in IE.

Just a click from seeing my site in a different browser :)

If only IE had the features that FF has... and if it were less annoying...
It's simply not nice.

Thumbs up for it's speed, thumbs down for everything else.

P.S.: I use IE 6.0 for designs.
