Private Social groups

What's the deal with being able to make a social group "Private" if everyone without access can still see everything within the social group? Isn't this the equivelant of having invisible shades in a house? You can see my walking around nude inside, just can't touch? Sounds kind of useless to me. Is there a hack that takes care of this?

If you set it to private or invite only then no one can see what's inside the group unless they belong to that group.

They ARE private. You must not have something set correctly.

You should check the option "Users must join to view the content"

Where would this option be located? It is not in the edit group options. Is it is the admin cp somewhere? Using vb 3.8.

Yoou first have to have the options turned on in vboptions > social groups > all join-to-view groups

Am I missing something? It appears to me that even when the option ""Users must join to view the content" is set, non-members can still see who are the members of the group. In other words, it isn't completely private.

I was just on my test site. I created a usergroup that was Invite Only. I could see the group as User1. My admin account, which has Can Edit Own Social Groups and Can Always Create Discussions in Usergroup manager set to Yes, could of course see the group. I then logged in as User2. User2, who is a Registered User and has Can Edit Own Social Groups and Can Always Create Discussions in Usergroup manager set to No, could not see the group at all.

I have social groups where the members would prefer not to be seen as a member. How can I acheive this ???
