Forum Prune

Seeing as vB decided to make it so only their coders could understand and complete this task - How do you do it?

I'm on the page to prune but I'm asked some seriously dumb questions when all I want to do is clear posts over 365 days old.. My db is close to 1/2gb and needs seriously cleaning..

Can someone kind enough put up a recommended setting for each question please.

Kind regards

It's just a darned shame we still have no method of offloading the pruned data. It all has to be deleted. :(

You could back it up from MySQL if you wanted, but if threads aren't used for over a year or so I don't see the point of keeping them unless they contain reference information.

I'd like to keep our old posts just for posterity. Offload them to an easily searchable text file, maybe using the Print routines. Absurd to force us to keep old posts in the db.

I cant believe there is not a hack or something to auto offload a post into another database as an archive so you can archive by year..

Seems logical, not sure why it hasn't been done yet...

I've seen this type of feature in other discussion board software.....the ability to prune old messages into an HTML file that you post on the web for users to view, like an archive.
