thread order (when old threads are moved) ?

hi,
i'm restructuring my forum with new categories and forums.
for example i'm getting rid of one forum...
and i want to move all the threads into other forum sections.

when i do that the threads always seem to appear on top
of the new threads in the destination forum...
even if their date is way older.

is there a way to make threads reorder automaticly by date/time?

i've tried "Rebuild Thread Information" & "Rebuild Forum Information"
but this doesnt seem to have an effect on the order.

What are the threads being sorted by in the destination forum? First Post Date or Last Post Time? or something else? It sounds like it may be First Post Date and perhaps you need to change it to something else.

the forum is in Last Post Time (Descending) modus.
its like the moved threads are treated like new arrivals to the forum :)
despite their actual date/time.

That is very odd, to say the least. I've never had that happen when moving threads between forums on my site. If you open one of these moved threads, are the post dates correct?

kurti 01-04-2009 05:11 PM

yes, the date of the last post in the moved thread shows correct.
(same as the date shown outside in the forum)

its weird... i just saw that problem only exists in one of the forums.:erm:
it other forums the moved threads appear in the right place... date-wise.

i've checked the settings again... all categories and forums are in
Last Post Time (Descending) modus. hm..

Ummmmm, I really don't know what to suggest. I suppose you could try disabling your mods and see if it fixes things, but that seems unlikely unless you know of a mod you have that only affects one forum? I really don't know.... maybe put in a support ticket?
