Hello,

I am in need of someone very knowledgeable of the vbulletin code for some custom hacks. I will typically need more information than hacks per se.

Compensation is negotiable.

Ugh,

Have you checked the Hacks forum to see what is available there? What hacks are you looking for?

thanks for the reply.

It isn't technically hacks, as much as it is information about the vbulletin code.

I lead a small group of PERL programmers and before I found vBulletin we were happy having our site be a mish-mash of different scripts thrown together.

For example, on our site we have a discusssion board, a pop quiz (with monthly prizes), an area where you vote on the best sites, a monthly newsletter, etc.

Previously each of these area required a seperate registration. You can imagine the frustration when a user states they forgot their password ("is this your school password, your discussion board password, etc?") As we previously used UBB there was just no practical way to tie all of this together.

Since we moved to VBB (and I highly recommend this move for anyone using UBB and contemplating it), we have tied many areas together, but since we are brand new to PHP I thought it may best to speak with someone very knowledgeable with the vbb code to give us pointers and directions about how we can best implement and add-on to our site.

I have reviewed phpwebsite and vbportal and they look very good, however at this point I think a home grown solution would be best for us.

What I am looking for is someone knowledgeable enough about the vbulletin scripts to serve as a reference and contact to tell me where certain areas are and give us pointers about how we can use it.

For example I would like to have our users be able to log in on the home page. I have found the cookie that is set and can successfully read it, but if the cookie is not set I would need to know where in the code it is set so our users can log in on the home page and all the other areas will recognize the user automatically.

I can manage that :) please send me an email or ICQ.
