Problem with the Quick Edit and Special Characters

Hello all.
I have had this problem on my forum for quite a while and never managed to find a solution.

When users use one of the following characters (æ, ø, å, Æ, Ø, Å) in the quick editor to send profile page messages it returns an error (it does not tell me which, just that an error occured).
If the user clicks on the "advanced button" that opens the more advanced editor, there is no problem with saving these characters. *hmm*

I have the same problem in the Give Reputation box with these characters..

I use ISO-8859-1 which should be fine (the characters work everwhere else on the pages).

Any vb wizard who have any suggestion for a fix?

Try disabling your plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php
