Limit Posts per Topic

Hi
I have a need to have a new topic in a forum and limit each topic to a specific number of posts.

For example, I want to create a topic called CARS, and limit the posts to 1,000 posts after which no more posts can be submitted.

In another topic called Trucks, I want to limit the posts to 500.

I'd also like to make sure that a poster named JIM can only post 1 time in that topic.

Is there a mod or can vbulleting do that? I only found a mod that limits the number of posts anyone one user can make.

Thanks

This is possible with a modification. However, I have not seen one readily available.

Thanks
Any idea on the cost for you to do this?

It's possible to auto close a thread after xx answers

Do you mean with this mod here .

Or is there a way to do it through the CP - I can't find it.

The above hack link does it to all the topics - is there one to set different autoclose for different topics.

Thanks a lot.

the way I would do it would be to alter table thread. And at thread creation this is where you set the limit and insert it via the data manager with all other inserts. And since it will become of threadinfo, everytime that thread loads I would compare postcount versus the amount set in that new column. And if it's equal to or greater then, than I close the thread

I think what you are saying is to do it manually?

First set something up in the table, then for each forum set the limit, then compare the table to the limit.....I don't know how to code all that. I thought there was a mod to do this.

Strange it is so complicated.

If you want to set it per thread, then it has to be set at thread creation

Please do not go into technical details in the Pre Sales section.

How am I supposed to make a purchase decision without knowing what is involved in getting this done? If I have to pay someone to get this mod done isn't that relevant?
I assumed an admin person would chime in with an answer.
