Install styles without editing Templates Again!
Hi Guyz,
I have a smaaaaaall...:) doubt!. My doubt is that, in my forum, i keep changing the styles during special festive seasons. For example, until this season of christman, i used a default style for my forum in which i did all the template edits. The problem is, when i install a new style, none of the modifications i did on the previous style gets integrated to this style. I have to do it all over agin. My question is; is there a way by which when importing a new style, the template modifications of the previous style can be automaticcally integrated to the new one? Please, please help me as I'm fed up of constantly editng templates after installing a new style!!:( |
If you add the new style as a child of the style you have made your template modifications in, then many of your edits will be inherited by the new style. You may have to do a little bit template modification or reverting though since you never know what templates the new style has edited.

thanks for the info lynne, but we'd still have to do edits rite? but the problem is that, its hard to find the edit codes again, as i keep on installing newer products often. so i have to come back at vb.org and find them again. is this the only way lynne?

You don't always have to do edits. If the new style didn't change the postbit template, then you will inherit the (perhaps modified) postbit template from the parent - so no editing needed. Or, go to your new style, click edit > View History > Compare and you can see the differences between the downloaded template and the parent template and edit in the differences.
