I recently started a new site and after checking the requirements...configured the config.php file this way: $config['Database']['dbtype'] = 'mysqli';

The install went without a hitch.

I have a couple of issues, though.

I can't get the RSS Feed Bot Poster to work...I keep getting an Internal Server Error page after creating the feed. I've triple-checked the feed settigs...and everything appears to be fine.

So, I figured I would try to repair the database...and try again. However, there were two tables that could not be repaired: vb_cpsessions and vb_sessions

I logged into phpMyadmin to check the database tables and found all of the tables were MyISAM types, except for two I listed above...both of those table types read HEAP.

Is there something I need to change, or address here?

Any replies are greatly appreciated.

Update...

I'm pretty sure the database tables are okay. However, when checking the server log for the RSS Feed Bot, I see the following error:

Premature end of script headers: /home/xxxx/public_html/forums/admincp/rssposter.php

Any help?

I checked the KB of my host and here is the info they provide for this type of error:

Such error message could be invoked by several reasons:

-- The script requires more than the usual time to be processed and is being killed by our system. In order to ensure the stable performance of all other hosted accounts we have set the TimeOut for our webserver to 10 secs.

-- There is an error within the programming code of the script in question. In this case it should be revised by a professional web developer who will be able to assist you further.

Is there any way around this?

Probably that one - the script is trying to access a feed but it takes too long and the server kills it.

Thanks for the reply, however...I'm not sure if that is really the case...since I get the error message almost immediately after clicking the "Preview Feed" button.

Internal Server Errors may also be caused by a malformed .htaccess file. Try temporarily renaming the .htaccess file if you have one to rule this out.

On another note...same host...different board...same feed...no problems.

So...in my opinion, it has something to do with the rss feed bot configuration within vbulletin and not the host.

I have an SMF board using a feed poster bot...and it retrieves the data just fine from the same feed url.

So can anyone offer any insight as to why the RSS Feed Bot is not working?

I have an .htaccess file in the root of my site, but there's nothing in it.

There's no .htaccess file in the root of my forums directory.

I use vbadvanced, as well.

Does the server have mod_security or Suhosin installed?

Is the same feed working in both forums?

This is the info I received from my host:

I am afraid as per the information above, your scripts tries to either allocate more memory than is allowed on a shared hosting server, or it is unable to properly obtain information through a socket connection (most probably to a database).

It appears that your script either needs certain modifications (memory) or I am afraid it is not compatible with the memory and timeout settings, which are set on the Shared Hosting server.

I think I may have found what the issue is, but can't be sure.

Running Diagnostics and came across these two files when comparing suspect file versions:

1. rssposter.php File does not contain expected contents
2. rssposter~.php File not recognized as part as vbulletin

I'm sure the second is a backup copy, however...the first one is questionable. Why would I receive this error?

Should I reupload the rssposter.php file?

Further update from my host:

I have also tried uploading another copy of the rssposter.php file...still the same issue.

I believe there may, in fact, be a bug somewhere...however, I can't put my finger on it.

Is there anyone who has experienced this issue on a clean install of the latest version of vbulletin?

In addition, I uploaded all non-image files in ASCII and tried again.

I still get the same Internal Server error...and after checking the server's error log, it reads:

My host has tried to debug this to no avail...so, I'm hoping you guys can read this and tell me what's going on.

This is a clean install of the latest version of vbulletin, yet everything works except for the RSS Feed Poster Bot.

I have tried everything I know to get this thing to work...so, it's in your hands now.
