quick question about IP addresses

Is there any way to disallow moderators from seeing the IP address of posts?

I thought the option in the usergroup manager prevented them from seeing IP addresses, but I guess that's only for the 'whos online'.

I am using 3.6.8.

Thanks for any help!

yep it's in usergroup permissions - just disable it there

admin cp>usergroup manager>edit usergroup>Who's Online Permissions>Can View IP Addresses

He wanted posts not the users online.

When you assign moderators, under Forum Manager -> Add Moderator (you want Edit Moderator Now) under "User Options" there is Can View IP Addresses, set that to "No" for each moderator in each forum.

Great, thanks so much!

One question though....what if I only use Super Moderators instead of regular Moderators...where would I edit that, or is it the same way?

Thanks again!

Same page. Only there is a list of Super Moderator permissions to edit at the top.

Hmm, did exactly what you guys said to do, and it still doesnt work. I made a test account and set it as a Moderator. I added the moderator to the forum and clicked 'can not view IP addresses".... I signed in with that account and can still view IP addresses.

Any ideas? :(

Did you do this using the same browser? Did you do a Force Refresh on the page so you didn't get a cached page?

shibby2 12-11-2008 06:26 PM

Yea, I ever tried it on another computer, and I still get the IP address. :(

Any ideas?

Create a new style with no parent - Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style > no parent - then browse the site using that totally default vbulletin style - do you still have the same problem?

If it is still happening, then try disabling your plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

PHP Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);
