Require RSS feed posts to be certain length before posting them to forum
Is there a way we can require that items grabbed from rss feeds and posted in forums are longer than, say, a single sentence? I would like to add an rss feed to my site to automatically get some things for members to talk about on it, but not when feeds send a single sentence with a link to lead members elsewhere. Any ideas how vBulletin's rss feed reader/poster can be modified so that it only posts feed posts greater than a certain length?

No Good, Rss Feeds are a lenght determined by who ever wrote the feed, The idea is that they get you to read a little then you need to go back to their site to read the rest.

I know we have no control over the length of the feed provided, but I'm asking if there is a way to modify the code so that it only creates threads when whatever the feeds provide are of a certain length. I would like it so that new posts are not made when a feed sends only the equivalent of a headline advertisement, but posts are made when a feed sends something closer to an article.
Any ideas? |
