Unified search engine between WordPress and vB

I'm looking to have two different web sites on two different domains... one with WordPress and one with vBulletin. What I'd like to do is make the search function in WordPress be able to also search posts within the forum on the different domain. I'm thinking that since the two sites are on different domains, this may not be possible. Worst case scenario I could have two different search boxes.

Has anyone done this before -- perhaps on the same domain even? I'd appreciate any ideas!!
