Error 1054 in admin panel
 

Hello, a while back I tried to update my forum from 3.7.0 to something more updated and it didn't go well. I had errors all over the board and after days of trying to fix things by hand I reverted to an earlier date. Since then I have this error when I log into the admin cp and I don't know how to fix it. Thanks in advance from someone who doesn't know how to program. :)

When you uploaded, did you rename the admincp dir again??

Because it uploads to admincp you need to delete the old directory, and rename admincp to that name again

When you reverted back to the older version, did you make sure all the files were reuploaded from that same version - vb 3.7.0 beta 4?

Lynne, no I didn't do that. I get so nervous about what I can and can't do that usually I don't do anything and I certainly didn't know that I should do that. So you mean to ftp the same files as the ones that I did when I upgraded to vb 3.7.0 beta? And if I do that, do I need to run the install script again? Or the config? Or just re-upload the files and that's good?

UKBusinessLive, I didn't really understand what you meant, sorry.

If you are using a database that is for 3.7.0, then you need to use the vb files for 3.7.0. If you use a database for 3.7.0 and the files for 3.7.3 and don't run the upgrade script (the upgrade script updates the database), then you will get database errors. So, you need to use the same version files as for the database.

Ok, I think I get what you are saying. So even if I revert the forum back, the files I had uploaded are still there and that's what the problem is. So I need to re-up the old files.

Ok I did as you advised and it fixed the admin control panel (YAY!), but now I have some new issues. The shoutbox ( vBShout By Zero Tolerance) quit working.. it kept saying "loading" but when I tried to shout anyway it went to a blank page.

I then tried "CybChatbox" which did the same thing as the above chatbox.
Then I tried "Dion Dev vBulletin 3.x Shoutbox 1.0" which did work but I don't like it and neither do my members.

Is there a way to make it so that we can use the either of the first two chatboxes listed?

Also, when I click on "quick links" it changes the link to "open buddy list".

Help? :confused:


EDIT: I am having even more problems now, smilies don't work, and one of my members says he can't post now... I'm going to revert back to the first set of problems. :(

There are three things on your site that all need to be running the same 'version' or you will have issues - your files, your database, and your styles/templates. It sounds to me like you have mismatched versions of these three things on your site.
