re-validating users

Migrating an existing phpbb3 site to the latest vbulletin.

Would it be possible after all users/threads etc are migrated, expand the user profile fields in vbulletin with additional required information. Then would there be a way to have existing users re-validate their accounts and ensure that all required information is provided before they are able to post?

Yes that is possible.

so you are saying this would be a standard admin feature or would there be some sort of extra process I'd need to go through?

It's built into vbulletin, you can add as many custom fields as you like :).

I understand the custom fields part, my question is with regard to the re-validating. Is this built into the system? So let's use these threes scenarios:

1) I do the migration then ALL existing users have to revalidate their accounts when the migrated forum is launched?
2) After the migration I could select say 125 users and put them into a status that requires validation?
3) I select a single user and put them into a status that requires validation?

Thanks
Paul

No, if you add a required Custom Profile Field, then all uers must enter a value before they can proceed using the forums.

What do you exactly mean with re-validation?

NorCal 11-07-2008 02:37 PM

I see so what will happen when an existing user comes to the forum?

By re-validation I am thinking along the lines of the activation code that a user would get in phpBB3. This happens at signup but also happens when a user attempts to retrieve/reset their password.

thanks
Paul
