how do you add a header and put the name of your forum in it?

You mean edit the banner image? You need to use some sort of image application (I user photoshop, but there are so many others) and then ftp it to your site and put the path in Style Mager ? find style > StyleVars > Title Image

how do you upload a header pic to the forum?i built one but dont see where to upload it and save it .

Upload it via ftp and either name it the same as the default image
or
Name it what you want, then edit the main style "all style options" and add the new title named image in the provided spot.

Image Paths --> Title Image box & resave the style.
