Word Swapping

I swear I saw that we can do this, but I'm having a brain fart and can't figure out how to do it.

I was wanting to change some words on my forum, to show up as something else when typed.

For example:

Someone types 'Sour' and it shows up as 'Admin'

Basically so we can change some swear words, to not be so harsh.

you can change words for *****'s in the Censorship option in your admin cp but i'n not sure of one that lets you swap words??

"Replacement Variables" ....

Sawa Dee SohL 10-28-2008 07:31 PM

^ ^ Do you really think that posting 2 words is gonna help? I stated I didn't now where to find it, so Live helped me.

You on the other hand posted 2 words, that do me no good. They do not tell me where to find that feature or change it. You do this all the time, lazy help? Why post if you aren't gonna be serious and actually help? No wonder you have 5k Posts.

Thank you Live for the help

nexialys 10-28-2008 07:49 PM

with that kind of language, do you seriously think we have the taste to help you ?!

it is not the first time you ask for lazy questions though...

my comment is clear, and if you do not see where is located the Replacement Variable Manager, you do not administer your forum enough... search your AdminCP...

anyway, i'm not lazy, you are... search here: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/ ... if you can't navigate thru this, get out.

There is a modification that will allow you to do this (I use it regularly). I originally used replacement variables and got some very interesting results and essentially broke my forum for a few minutes since the replacement variable replaces "XXX" everywhere in the forum, including in the coding.

The title of the modification was "Word Replacements" and it adds two options to your AdminCP -> vBullutin Options -> Censorship Options to allow you to replace specific words and characters with others.

So you could say to replace OMG with Oh my gosh if you happen to hate netspeak.

Edited to Add: the mod shows up as "Word replacement" in product manager, but has a longer name here. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=149118

Thanks Keep, much appreciated. - My moms name is Laura, funny stuff.

All my questions are clear, and I'm always ready to detail my question if anyone has any questions on my issue.

I'm not lazy, I work, sorry if you do not. I also have a 2yr old son, and I run my forums part time.

I apologize for not being apart of VB for the 4 years you have, and the at most, 3 months I have.

being rude is no way to get help dude. On top of that, those two words should have helped immensly.

If you bothered to look for "replacement variables" in your ACP, im sure you would have found it within a few minutes.

these people here to HELP YOU LEARN, not to give you the answers and do the work for you, and with an attitude like yours its a wonder anyone even bothers to type two words for you.

I work, and have a child as well, and in 3 months time I was able to learn how vbulletin works fairly well, so IMHO, there is no excuse for laziness.

Sawa Dee SohL 10-28-2008 09:47 PM

You know nothing of me, so don't call me Lazy. K? Thanks.

BigJohnny 10-28-2008 10:10 PM

well, you have certainly left a good first impression.
