Show new posts in "Welcome box"?

Hello everyone.

We are trying to redesign our "Welcome box" to show news posts count. I have searched the forums and mods but haven't found a solution for out problem.

We are running latest Vbulletin and VBA.

Below is a badly photoshopped image in swedish (with translation) that are showing what we are trying to do.

So, if anyone could point us in the right direction it would save our day!
