Total ForumHome Re-Write (Different display format?)

I saw a mod that did this at some point, but I don't know what it's called. I don't even know how to explain it rather than to just link you to 2 sites that have something like it..

Those have images in the place of generic vbulletin display (forum name, last post, number of posts, etc). Does anyone know what this is called and/or have you seen that mod before? If so, can you link me to it?

So those links cover how to add icons to boards. Is there also a hack which could show subforums like in the mentioned links? In a 2 or 3 column layout?
