Same accounts on TWO VBulletins
Can it be done?
For example: I have website A , and Website B I want all members on website A to be able to log into Website B using their account information from A Basically, merging them - but not merging them. Only allowing them to access the other Forum/VB through their account previously created, and any accounts created on A/B will be able to log into each other, and vise versa Possible? |
You have to have 2 licenses. But you would have to use the same user tables.
|
Ya I figured I'd need the 2nd license to have it under another Domain.
Awesome, just wanted to make sure it was possible before I did anything further :D Much appreciated *gives thanks* |
This question has been asked 100's of times. But there's no full-proof answer for this.
Though there are two hacks here, you may try them carefully on test boards:- Multiple Forums using a single user table Share users database among many forums |
We don't have a huge userbase atm, so I didn't wanna split them up right now.
But from the way we're going, we are probably going to go to two separate Domains. So i was just curious for in the future Basically like VB.com and VB.org allowing me to log into .org with Zour |
So just simply changing to one database with both, I dont think that will work properly, Like say if i registered on A i wont be able to log into B till you re-merge.

Not if you run on the same user tables

SirAdrian suggested a while back that MySQL views probably will work, the only limitation is that both databases must be on the same server.
|
Would I constantly need to update the other database to make it so they can use both, or can I make it so they both use the same database?
|
just on the same server. No one has a mod out there that works fully functional right now of else you would a billion vb sites out there using this hack.
Also when you update vb versions it could become painful, but there is a mod out there that lets you update all vb installations in one go. |
