How to add a new field to a post?
Hello guys,
i'm wondering how can i add a new field to a post that would show in post's "advanced edit" window and be required if a post has attachments? Please give me directions. |
I have not seen anything like that. There are mods that have extra fields to fill out when you create a thread, but then the contents are included in the post, not kept as a separate editable field.

I have found an old thread about adding custom fields to threads, and, although it was somehow helpful, i still can't figure out how to do this for posts. I need this new field to be visible and editable in all possible places (i.e. starting a new thread, making a new post in advanced mode and editing a post). Also it should be a dropdown (the values should be initiated through a separate plugin)
All further help would be appreciated. |
What you are asking for is not simple. You will need to add new columns to your posts table and new code to deal with these fields in all the places you mentioned.

Ok, like Lynne said, not that simple so this might just be a "Meorazhar" original ;)
Try this link --> https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=170912, you can see how they did it via the code :D Now perhaps you can use snippets to create what you want, editing postbit etc to show the contents of the custom field. There are already many mods out w/ code snippets you could utilize for this, it just depends on your determination and ability to follow through until you get exactly what you want from it all. I'm still looking for some help. I have even posted a thread in "paid requests" subforum but noone seems to have a solution...
