Restore a user

Yano the mod how to restore a deleted user is there one for 3.7?

veenuisthebest 10-18-2008 01:57 PM

If you have deleted a user, you cannot restore him back. The only soution would be to restore your complete database.

If the user is deleted - they're gone. Trying to restore backups just for a single user will be messy as well (i.e. not practical/possible). Did you think twice before deleting them?

Right had a search for the mod and i found it, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...re+user&page=2
Will this work with 3.7?

I don't think so. What you really want, and what some have tried to implement, is a way to "soft" delete a member, so that if they change their mind later they can be bought back.

As of right now, I'm, unaware of a working mod that does this without a slew of template edits.

All that mod does is allow you to restore a user back to his deleted id. It does not restore his posts or add his id into the old posts if you didn't delete them.

silvermerc 10-19-2008 05:47 PM

oh, that sucks.
So theres no mod that can do that Lynne?

Lynne 10-19-2008 05:51 PM

There is no mod to do it, no. All you can do is have them register again and then I've seen a query that Steve over at vb.com has posted where you can change the userid on posts that are still around that a deleted user made to the new userid.

silvermerc 10-19-2008 06:21 PM

:OOO
So its possible but will take some time?

Lynne 10-19-2008 07:00 PM

Kinda. If the posts are still there then they have a name on them - the old username. So, if the person registers again, you can run a query to associate all the posts with the old username with the new username and userid. If they posts were deleted though, then there is nothing you may do. Go search over on vb.com for the query because this issue has been discussed before over there.
