Spam bots

Nope nothing will make them go away, not even spraying them.

The following names are what they registered with: mehifeitamp, elubmarma, basettasex, Soffapops, MynuQiruva.

They post crap in meet and greet forum talking about spam and porn.
After that they just make another account, Their IP shifts after every 2 accounts.

Here's what almost all of the about me tab in their profiles say:
About MynuQiruva
Real Name
test
Biography
Man
Location
Cameroon
Interests
MynuQiruva
Occupation
Cameroon
Gamertag
MynuQiruva
About me
MynuQiruva
Xbox Live Gamertag
Marketing

Is there a way to like make em disappear?

There is another thread about this. A lot of us have been getting hit hard. Mine have been also posting their URL in the location profile field.

You can use Stop the Registration Bots. It works beautifully.

You can also use Check4Spam to prevent spam from appearing on your forum. I was using that already and in spite of the hundreds of bots that have signed up in the past couple of days, none of them were able to successfully make any posts. Since I've installed it, I have 1 or 2 posts out of hundreds slip through and that's only because they didn't include links or anything that made sense.

Thank you man. My board has been up for 6 months, and I never once had spam trouble, but this week has been hell with over 20 bot registrations per day.

Apparently the bot programmers have broken captcha again. I just changed my registration to question-and-answer and asked "what do you get when you mix red and white" answer: pink. No more bots until someone figures out how to bypass my site reg question manually, and they haven't bothered so far.

The registered at my forum also and posted ads like wowgold etc.

Are you using recaptcha? It's working great for me.

Question for registration is all you need.

reCaptcha is built-in with 3.7.X so it would be the easier method I suppose?
But questions work too (though I've never used it myself).

I am being hit with them too. I did not know what they were and was very suspicious, because they did not fit the usual profile of the members on my board. My question is, I use vb 3.7.3 pl1 and do not see in my registration options a place to change my registration to a question and answer. Can you tell me how to do that? I am new to this forum stuff and not being a computer programmer do not always know how to do these thing automatically. I thank God for sites like this that have helped me tremendously.

Thanks

Update:
I figured it out, posted questions and have had no more trouble out of the pesky little things.

That looks good, thanks!

Now, anyone have a suggestion on how I could mass delete or ban the 796 bots I found registered?
