Tech stuff for dummies???

Is there a place where I can get an idea of how to install some of the mods for my board? I am completely lost about how to do some of this stuff but there are some great mods that I would like to use. I know how to get to my server acct and upload a file, but this one I am working on has a zipped file and it wil not let me upload the entire "upload" file. I would have to do it one by one or upload the zipped file. I had help installing Vbulletin and it was similar.

I am so lost. Is there a general instruction anywhere that I am missing?

Thanks.

How much of the manual have you looked through? And how about the Articles forum? Also, sometimes you can post in the modification thread for help, too.

I am looking in the articles now. But I think it is before the vbulletin even. It is getting it to my server right now. LOL

Ah, the very basics. :)

You probably need an ftp client? Do you have one of those yet? The vb manual does cover how to upload the standard vb files, and how to unzip them, so perhaps read this page in the manual - Preparing the vBulletin Files for Upload and Uploading vBulletin Scripts to Your Web Server. They even have a link to Smart FTP in the second page.

You know, I have smartFTP downloaded but I have NO idea how to use it. This is all a first for me and it is much more difficult than I anticipated.

Unfortunately, I'm a Mac person, so I can't help you with any of your PC software. Sorry. You might try going to the SmartFTP website and seeing if they have a FAQ that shows you how to use it.

Thanks for your help. I will either figure it out or the board will crash with me trying. LOL
