A clean restart

I have found some error in my DB and my admin control panel. Im pretty sure it happend when i upgraded the versions.

My question is can i take my user, usergroup, permissions, post structure etc basically everything meat and potatos, back them up and install a clean copy of vbulletin and import the data back in.

Is this possible? Please point me in the right direction.

TIA
Seaweed

A good place to start may be troubleshooting the errors you are getting first!

Use impex available for download at your vBulletin.com members area

I want the same thing... so i download the impex... it work to save data of my vb and then import it in a new install?

Yes, see the manual Appendix 5: ImpEx Import System

the problem with ImpEx is that all your data will be renumbered, all your userids will be changed, all your actual links on google will have to be reindexed by the crawlers to be working again, so you will have a load of error404 in the meantime...

why don't you start with a checkup ?!... dB errors may be corrected easily usually.

Does it renumber everything even if you started the old forum from scratch, and then reimport it again on a new install?

Wouldn't it start at 0 or 1, and then go from there like a new install does?

i made that test once FRDS... everything is renumbered to drop the deleted entries...

so if you have userid 100 deleted, the #101 will take its place, etc... same for forumid, threadid etc... so it will renumber everything most of the time, or you really have a small forum..;)
