on the forum sections how can i make it so it highlights when u put ur mouse over the whole section?

ok say i have my forum like this

--- Main Forum 1
------ Sub Forum
------ Sub Forum
------ Sub Forum
------ Sub Forum
--- Main Forum 2
------ Sub Forum
------ Sub Forum
------ Sub Forum

Ok the Main Forum 1 and 2 are my main forum home, lets say if i put my mouse over one of the sub forums aka ( Child Forum ) then that whole part would highlight itself?

i know theres a way todo this i just dont know the code
