Problem with banned user IPs - AOL proxy...
Ideas and help gratefully appreciated.
I have banned a user who was spamming. I have since had some emails using the contact us link from a couple of other users who are asking why their IP address is banned! I looked into it and about 40 users are all linked to this AOL.proxy IP address. Its clear that they are all AOL customers. Anyway, how can I allow this IP address without unbanning the bad user(s) who have registered with it? VB doesnt seem to have enough control on user banning :( |
Banning a user and banning an IP are 2 different things. If you don't want to ban the IP, just remove it from the banned IP list (or better: never add it to start with).

I thought they were interlinked. |
I had a huge problem with a persistent Troll that used AOL and I created a whole set of scripts designed to lock out problems...

So, you ban them and they come back with a new e-mail address and a new IP! The tools above solved my issues with AOL and it was AOL that caused me to write them. Good Luck! |
