Help moving site.

Some months ago I split part of my large forum off to its own site this was done because there were so many forums on the first site that it took for ever to scroll down the home page.

There wasn't a hack to do this so the entire site was copied over to the new address and most of the forums were deleted bar the needed ones. This was no mean feat as there were a few hundred thousand posts to delete and it took for ever.

The problem now is that the smaller site which was really popular on the big forum has lost a lot of it's popularity and now only gets a small faction of the hits it used to get prior to the move.

Since moving it I have discovered the tabbed forums hack which would have solved all my problems and meant it wouldn't have needed to be moved in the first place.

OK... Now comes the $63,000,000 question.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to get it back into the original forum with all the posts etc in tact. Moving it as before won't work as it went onto a clean site then, but it has to fit back into the old site now.

Last time I asked, this question was thrown straight into the too hard basket. Hopefully not this time.

Cheers - Neil :)

PS both forums are in the signature below. I want to shift Renovate Forum back into Woodwork Froums

You can backup your database and then when you move forum you can take the old database and place it back

hope this help

You will have to use impex and merge the sites back together.

Like snakes said use impex available for download at vbulletin.com/members

however, its not going to be as easy as you think, you wont be able to just put these posts back and keep the same URL's. You're in for a rather painstaking and tedious job especially when it comes to associating users

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure impex doesn't work with importing or exporting vBulletin, only other BB's. Tried it when moving the forum initially and it didn't work.

But like I said I could be wrong.

I think there is an actual merge feature on Impex, IIRC.

ImpEx also will work to merge 2 vBulletin boards.

Thank you all for your help.

I'll keep the fingers crossed, bite the bullet and have a go.

Cheers - Neil :)
