favicon.ico in css/stylesheet

I have a lot of html pages I created using frontpage on my site. I wish one of these 'favicons' on every page of a fairly large site, what I'm wondering, in order to save time, is if it's possible to add the icon via the external stylesheet, instead of laboriously adding it to each page.

I have already added it on my forum.

Most browsers will detect a favicon.ico in your root directory of your public_html or where you store your files for your website.
