Ad placement in footer

I'm trying to put an ad so that it appears at the bottom left on every page of my forum. I put code in the footer template, and the ad is appearing where I want it to appear -- except the main forum home page. Is this because I need to put code in the forumhome template as well? I thought the footer would cover it, but am I wrong about this?

I'm using OpenX.
