Interested in building a RPG site

Hello, I've been browsing forums and mod sites for a couple of days now trying to find out how I can make a idea happen.

I've got very little website administration experience. I've used things like SMF/TP and Mambo.

What I'm trying to accomplish is a forum based RPG site (mostly just for me and a few friends).

[RPG = Roleplaying Game]

I've tried looking at a few mods for vbulletin, however it seems I am unable to view some of the images the modders had posted.

What I'm looking for is a way for a user account to "Create a Character" that would be linked to the account. I'm looking for something where a user could potentially have multiple characters linked to his account.

Each Character in a account can earn Experience (Separately). Perhaps a total amount of XP earned for all characters can be listed under the user name on the forums?

I would like the user to be able to spend experience to raise stats for the character using a formula.

I would also like users to be able to roll dice on the forums. The number of dice rolled are based on the character's stats, but there are a lot of modification rules to how many you roll so just something that allows a user to roll X amount of Y Dice Type.

Also is it possible with Vbulletin to have users be able to apply for a certain group category and based on settings either automatically allow them in a certain group or automatically deny them?

I understand not everything will be avaliable and that it's possible some coding may have to be done. I'm just trying to find out a direction where I can find some of these features and maybe peice something together.

I've talked about using a excel sheet for the characters.

If anyone has any idea or a direction they can point me to finding even 1 of these features that would be very helpful.

There were a few RPG modifications, the most famous was probably Inferno RPG mod, which i've got no clue if its still around or not.

Then there is "vBArmy" which could be adapted to your needs for a RPG i beleive.

the old RPG integration hack (for 3.5) can run on 3.7.3 with a bit of work
