Show the source of an avatar

If someone takes a picture of a free pictures website and puts it as his avatar, then this avatar ist shown with each and every post of this user. But also free pictures websites want to be clearly named when showing the picture. But this isn't possible because an avatar ist just a picture. And you don't really want to show the link to the free pictures website in your signature.
So, what do you do?

- Watermark? How?
- ...
