DJ's Smileys - Ping Based Default Inspired Post Icons
 

There seem to be plenty of default post icons re-saved or matted for dark backgrounds. What I decided to do was re-create the default theme as PNGs optimized for any color background.

If you're currently using default Post Icons, and you'd like to replace them with my Post Icons, don't delete any of your Post Icons just yet.

First, upload these Post Icons to your icons folder.

Second, go into your Admin CP >>> Post Icons >>> Post Icon Manager, then select the category you keep your default Post Icons in. For each Post Icon, click Edit and change each instance of .gif to .png.

WHY? Well, what will happen is if you delete Post Icons that are currently in use, you'll end up with broken images (Internet Explorer) all over the forum or no images at all (FireFox) where Post Icons once were. Post Icons use ID number just like everything else on your forum. So changing the URL of each Post Icon will retain each instance where their ID was used. Deleting them, will only mean anything new added will obtain new ID numbers. (NOTE: Feel free to delete the GIFs from your directory in your FTP at any time. Where you don't want to delete anything is in your Admin CP.)

I'm glad everyone has been liking them so far. But I'm seeing a lot of downloads and not a lot of installs. Please let me know if you actually are using them on your forum by clicking install and I'd be inclined to do more along these lines.

It'd be great if you made some status icons (offline/online/invisible) and poll icons to match this.

Okay ran into a small problem.. I've looked all over.. I'm using Afterdark as my style. Each time when you create a new post with the No Icon selected it says "Default" in my forum posts and it looks for a icon1.gif even tho I followed the instructions in changing this over to the .png. What can I do to get it to look for the right one and post it?

Admin CP >>> vBulletin Options >>> vBulletin Options >>> Thread Display Options (showthread) >>> Show Default Post Icon

Ah thank you.. looked all over in the templates and was an easy fix in the options.. grr
