random field grab

I am looking to write a simple piece of code that will randomly pull one of my user created profile fields, thing is, not everyone will have this field filled in their profile and so I only want to grab it from one that is filled. Along with this I want to pull the user's username. Is this possible? It's for a CMPS module.
