COPPA Not Letting Users Change Profile
I had COPPA enabled under Registration Options, but when I got more of an influx of users, people started to complain that when they tried to edit their profiles, they were being told they were under 13 and needed to provide their parents email, even though they are over 13. For example, one guy is getting the message, and a few lines down it says his birthdate is 12/17/1977.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening, and how to fix it? I disabled COPPA under registration options and it is still happening. Is there another place I need to disable it, or is there a table in the DB that I need to update? |
vboptions > User Profile Options > Require Date of Birth

But they have valid dates of birth in there as I said. I'll try disabling that, though.

That option says nothing about valid dates of birth. It says if you require the date of birth, they can't change it after registration. Period.

OK, but that still doesn't fix the issue with people getting:
Please complete the required field "Parent Email". When you make changes to this profile, your Parent / Guardian will be notified by email. |
That's because you had COPPA enabled and they are underage. You might try finding the user in the Admin CP and changing their usergroup (and birthday year).

Do you still have birthdate required?
I'm really not familiar with how to fix this since I have never used COPPA on my site nor required a birthdate. You might want to post or search over on vb.com for an answer to this. (like this - Member listed as COPPA user but is not) |
