More likely to join a vBulletin forum?

Out of pure curiosity, would you be more likely to join a forum using vBulletin than other software? I'd expect yes, because this is a vBulletin official forum, but I'm just curious to that.

I'd personally join a forum if it's got unique content or interesting content more, but I still think vBulletin is the best software and as a result would be more inclined to join the vBulletin powered forum compared to one running other software.

i join any forum that i own... that's all.. .vBulletin or not.. lol i rarely join anyother forum anyway.

I don't really join forums these days... only if I need access to something. I don't really find the need to participate in discussions on any other forums to be honest. But I'd definitely choose a vBulletin forum over a non-vbulletin forum.

So most people here rarely join other forums nowadays? As for why I like to know if people are more likely to join a vBulletin forum, I read on The Admin Zone a topic where the issue was whether forum software affected registrations, and in my personal experience it does.

I join maybe .01% of the forums I visit nowadays and that's purely for access to something I cannot attain elsewhere. Five years ago, it was a different story. Today, I own a few sites, admin and/or work on others and just don't have the time for most forums. It's even difficult to find time for my own (personal) sites, including one site I've been threatening to start up for over a year now. If time wasn't an issue... I'd spend more of it where it counts the most. :)

What exactly do you wish to attain that you can't elsewhere? Example please:

I'm just curious.

I'm sure many IO, would prefer dealing with a software they know. I don't mind other software, but sometimes I"m like...where is this and where is that in certain forum softwares.

The board I frequent the most aside from my own ironically is gamefaqs.com.

I have nothing against other peoples boards here or anything, it's a Time issue as David stated. I just don't have time to go around and post at everyone else's sites. It's like coming here, I mainly coming here to clear my head after finishing something, design, coding, etc.

to answer your question I would prefer it to be familiar and a VB, but it doesn't have to be, and I don't have time anyways.

I go to:

gamefaqs.com
my own site obviously
vbulletin.org
vbulletin.com
midway.com - big MK fan
thefinalfantasy.com - still on the top 50 or so for posting like 9 years or so there

that's it.

Custom content
Particularly useful for specific user manuals or tech guides that are copyrighted that I can get specifically from the source (of course there is free registration to attain this). Usually I can find whatever I need and just download it, but occasionally, there are the few out there that specifically do not allow other sites to mirror its content so therefore I will go to the source, but I have no issues with that, and they do surprisingly have forums (of which a slight majority appear to be custom made ones rather than a known one or vBulletin for that matter.) Most of this is work related as I am in the IT field. My coworker specializes in printers and repair is even further in depth in manuals and guides than I am (you should see how frustrated he gets trying to find some of these for his repairs).

Hmmm - interesting question - I rarely join forums - but when I do - I do think I'm more apt to register at a Forum running vBulletin than any other software - I'm just familiar with vBulletin and know where things are - Everyone likes familiarity right :P --- Mostly though - I say if there are 2 similar forums with similar content - one of them is a vBulletin forum and another is IPB or phpBB or SMF - I'd choose the vBulletin forum every day of the week ;)

Jacquii.

I prefer vBulletin forums since I know their controls the best.

I am active on mostly vBulletin forums, but also 2 phpBB forums.
