how to get the $totalthreads to work?

I want to change the

Code:

$vbphrase[threads]: $totalthreads,

                                $vbphrase[posts]: $totalposts,

                                $vbphrase[members]: $numbermembers

to a side bar, but it doesn't seem to work, it doesn't show the number of threads, posts,... how can i get it to show up?

No i was trying to make a style for my forum and I was just messing around with the template, it's not a modification or anything

You need to make sure the variable is available for use at the time that the sidebar is 'made'. Is the sidebar in another template? Make sure the variable gets defined before you eval the template.
