How to Re-number/reset ids?

I would like to re-number/rest my forums, user ids, usergroups, or styles. I have tried to reset the id numbering system for styles in Maintenace, but no change.

How t Re-number/reset ids?

There is really no way of doing it without messing up a lot of other things.

I see no proper reason why IDs should be "recounted". In any case, as the above poster has said, any botched attempt will break a lot of things.

Sorry for the late reply back... i do a lot of testing on my live boards... yeah i am aware I can crash things, but I was hoping to reset those style ids... lol...

Thanks!

No, you really should stay far from trying to change the internal id's.

I would be interested too as my id's got all screwed up when I imported the board. I am number 365 even though I am the admin.

You could kick out user id 1 and use their profile or set your user account in config.php to Super Administrator.

But, I have seen some boards after importing start ids @ 250, and the rest is null.

Internal IDs are used as identifiers and they link together all your posts/threads/pm and loads more. You can just delete userid 1 and then change your userid, you would need to change it across all the tables, rebuilding any caches e.t.c.

UserID don't mean anything to the end user... I don't see why people have a fixation with them. Its only a number. :)

The only time you are going to see it is on the member profile in the URL or the User Manager in the AdminCP. (I think).

There are other members who were there when the site first started and they are user id #5xx. So its not like its just mine that is off. There is no 2-5. The lower number people though are ones who are not active on the forum and some have registered months after the site was open yet are number 10. Doesn't really seem to make sense.
