support multiple connection?

Well as the title said wonder if my server can support 5 connection?
since right now using download manager it doesnt support resuming and only allow 1 connection.

I dont have any server firewall enabled at the moment and i have apache 2.2.9.
The downloads are served through http

How is the file being downloaded? Is it a direct link, or through a script?

maidos 07-31-2008 11:27 AM

well through a script, to be more exact vb mods downloadsII. I suppose i should contact the author for support?

But without the script i still get one connection only. I wish to raise it to 4-5 connection when they use download manager. Anyway to do this with an apache installed?

If you can still only "open" one connection when directly downloading a file - I would suggest contacting your SysAdmin/Host as it is most likely a configuration issue.

maidos 07-31-2008 12:41 PM

Actually the sysadmin says something very different. They said that since i have apache it wont support resuming and only allow one connection. Any help?

i got centos 5.2 64bit

Hi,

I believe as you are using apache to download, it does not support multiple
connections and resume downloads. Usually this is on special ftp servers.

Dismounted 08-01-2008 05:56 AM

That is wrong - Apache will support download resuming/part splitting "out-of-the-box", as it is simply a header request for specific parts of the file. Unless you have disabled accepting these headers yourself, they will be "enabled".

please help me how to allow 4 connection in that case

Dismounted 08-01-2008 06:21 AM

It should be already enabled by default - I don't know your specific server configuration. As I've said before, contact your SysAdmin/Host.

maidos 08-01-2008 06:31 AM

Well they said i would need to give them instruction how to allow 4 connnection since they believe this is not something it is possible because i use apache.

Please help. if you want me to give any specific configuration i will try to do so.
