One site - Many Forums???
Hi
Just wondering how you would suggest I achieve this. Say for example you have one domain that covers the entire range of boating. Sailors are only interested in their type of sailing or a couple of boat categories. sailors are put off if all types of sailing and boats are in the one forum as there is a lot of areas that they are not interested in So, you want a separate group of forums for each type (its a long story why :() like: - Dingys (General Discussion, for sale, building, etc) - Speed Boats (General Discussion, for sale, building, etc) - Cabin Cruisers (General Discussion, for sale, building, etc) - Ocean Liners (General Discussion, for sale, building, etc) - etc etc etc (General Discussion, for sale, building, etc) You want your site to have a home page that contains all general boating news items and then tabs across the page for each separate group of forums. You also want one single login so a user can access any number of the tabs (boat types) that interest them. So how would you suggest this be done...is it even possible? (note also posted on vBulletin.com) |
Just create a Public Joinable Usergroup for each of these categories, let the members choose in which groups they are interested and set permissions for each category to only show if a member of this group.

Thanks Marco - that would do it and solve issues like search etc but not the friendliest way but may have to do.

Set the forum display order to 0 to hide it from the homepage, then link to individual forums using a html link to forumdisplay.php?f=XX where XX is the ForumID.

I think this will be useful to you.
