Verifying A Site problems..

I am trying to verify my site with Google>Wemaster Tools..

They ask me to either verify as Add a meta tag or upload a HTML file..

I am a bit lost.. the meta tag is this..

But as my forum doesnt have a homepage how can i find the HTML "<head>" to insert this as its not in my forum..

As for the HTML upload it says..

How do i do i create this file and what part of vbulletin do i upload it too ??

Your a bit confused, you can either place a meta tag into the head of your site which is this...

HTML Code:

<meta name="verify-v1" content="1cNW0+Y930Bg6LHykjHClSReQ+eqcH4kO6HfhRgiQlw=" />

Or you can create an html file with the name Google gave you, there needs no content in the html file just the name of the file has to be what google gave you.

To create the html file
Open up notepad or another text editor create a new document and save with the name google gave you. Upload it to your sites root folder.

To add the meta tag....

Style Manager-> Your Style-> All Style Options ->headinclude

Place the metatag there...

I went to Style Manager-> Your Style-> All Style Options ->headinclude

and I inserted the meta tag.. when i verified the tag i got a reply..

I even wrapped <head></head> around the meta tag and still no luck :(

As for the HTML file.. i saved one using Notepad and the filename google gave me.. but i can find the root folder..

Damn im crap at this.. lol.. from my cPanel i can see all the folders but nothing that looks or has 'root' written on it...

root folder refers to the folder in which your forums are installed. E.g.

/public_html/forums/index.pph

So /plublic_html/forums/ is your root folder.

Thankyou that worked a treat..

When i upload stuff like that to the root folder.. i worry in case i mess up the forum ..

Do i take this file out once its verified or will it do no harm sat there ??
