Set the usergroup to awaiting activation off of registration

I want it set up so no activation is required except posting in an introduction thread. How do I set the default registration usergroup to 'users awaiting activation', instead of it auto going to 'registered'?

Clone your "Registered Users" group, and then restrict the "Registered Users" group to only be able to post in the introduction forum. Then create a usergroup promotion for the "Registered Users" group to the clone group with full permissions.
