Mass mailing your members

I didn't post this in vBulletin discussions as it's not necessarily to do with vBulletin, because the same thing now applies to most other software. Also I didn't post it in programming discussions as it's not a programming problem really.

Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo are now becoming so hard on Spam, that a lot of webmasters are finding their mass mailings to members are ending up in the spam folders. Subject to registering the mail server with a whitelist company (for hundreds of dollars may I add), and conforming to MSN's spam policy, it still remains difficult to land the mail in the users inbox.

How are you sending out your mass mailings? How many members are you sending it to? Are the mails ending up in your users inbox or spam folder?

Dean

i never mass-mail any member on any site... i prefer to post announcements that are forced-subscribe to all members, so if they do not visit the site, they receive an update via the cron job, making the "spam" mostly impossible.

Well unfortunately I don't have that luxury as I've taken on a site where 99% of the members are inactive after the previous admin did nothing for 2 years :)

I'm using Interspire's Email Marketer. It seems to work very well.
