SSL on login page

is there anyway to add SSL to the login pages? i had it on the WHOLE forum but it slowed the forum down a bit!so i just want to add it to the login pages etc

I never tried it myself, but from experiences by others it seems that you should either run the whole site on SSL or nothing.
