Remove (sort of) rules on register

I would like to remove the rules page from the registration process but add a tickbox on the registration page that has to be ticked that the user accepts the rules with a link to a new window with the rules.

I have looked but can't find anything like this, so any help or a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

something like this Cyb - Advanced Forum Rules

This modification removes them: Remove forum rules step from registration

However it doesn't create a checkbox on the next page.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, but I really need the users to click that they accept the rules. I suppose I could always try and "fiddle" with the register templates and see if I can get something going like that.... scary thought!

Has anyone managed to find a way to bypass the rules but change the registration form to include a click through accepting them with a link to them?

This is your solution. It can be made to work the way you want, with some creative setup on your part.

I don't see how that is a solution to my question? As far as I can see that simply forces users to accept rules before posting and can force them to re-accept them when you change them.

Clearly I am missing what you think is a solution with that Videx, so I would appreciate you pointing it out to me.

I was also looking for something like this! I made a post about it a while back but nobody had any solutions

Let's see if i understand it correct.

You want to keep the current rules pages when registering, but you don't want to show the text of these rules. Instead you want to have a link they must click first to read the rules on a new page.

Correct?

Not really. It also gives you a box to enter rules. And it allows you several options to make users accept rules.

So it seems to me you could just put a link in the box pointing to your page (though I don't see why you'd go to the trouble), then make sure new users have to accept the rules. Done.
