Recommend a Text Editor Please

Can anyone recommend a text editor that's free or inexpensive, and easy to use?

Thanks

That's an IDE, not a "text editor". Look at www.editplus.com

usually, people here use the term text editor but want a code editor,... so i suggested that link...

Either way, there is a difference. Next person will be able to learn about both.

I wouldn't trust an IDE or a home server for testing. Been there done that. They never give the same result as live.

Good resource though, I didn't mean to imply otherwise.

If the home server is setup properly there should be no difference.

Hmmm....thank you both for your suggestions. To be more clear (hopefully)....I want to create code to add to a page for my site that will have tables on it. Which would I use?

Thanks for the help.

Both can do the job. The IDE will enable you to code and test in both php and html. Not sure if you need a lamp/wamp server or if the IDE is the server.

The text editor you create both php and html from scratch and upload to test. The editor has colors to highlight certain codes and stuff.

I'm not going to argue the home server point. Most can't set one up let along set one up properly. And most use windows, WAMP. That's enough reason not to use it for testing.
