Remove Call Home

I heard that removing call home cna reduce sever load. I have tried to find where this code is, but can't. Where is the call home function.

I called home everyday to tell my wife what time i be back for dinner and that does not reduce my load...oops,i mean my work load.

Ok,seriously,i dont know what you meant, sorry.can you explain more in details to us what does this .php does please?

basically Call home calls home to the Jelsoft servers to verify what version of Vbulletin you run.

It can reduce server load is what i've been told. I don't know where it is to remove it though.

I doubt it, and as far as I know, you would have to edit each file..
jelsoft may not like it tho, since you would be "nulling" their product

As far as I know it is legal to modify it. Many valid boards do remove this function.

hmm, I'm not sure.. but I've never heard it asked before, unless someone wanted to steal the script :erm:

Removing it would hardly make any difference as it is only used in the AdminCP.

Also removing it might give you problems later on when you are in need of support.

Also doing this only is usefull in case you want to pirate vBulletin. For this reason we do not allow discussing removal of the callhome on our site. Closing thread.

Obviously it could be used to 'null' the script, but it has been proven that in some cases it does reduce server load because it drops one query.

As this response was given just before the thread was closed, i will give an answer to this last post: No it does NOT drop a query.
